Miller County has a five member Board of County Commissioners elected by the voters through district elections for four year staggered terms to represent the residents of the unincorporated area of the county. The Chairman and Vice-Chairman are selected among the Board members every January. The County also has six other elected officials elected by the voters through at-large elections for four year terms. Those officers are the Sheriff, Tax Commissioner, Clerk of Superior Court, Judge of the Probate Court, Judge of the Magistrate Court, and the Coroner.
The Board of County Commissioners appoints a County Manager to supervise the day-to-day operations of the County.
The Miller County Board of Commissioners conducts their meetings twice a month. The Regular Session is held the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:00 pm. Meetings are held either in the Government Complex. All meetings are live streamed on the County's official face book page.
The City of Colquitt has a four member city council as well as a mayor elected by the voters through district elections for four year staggered terms to represent the residents of the city. The Colquitt City Council conducts their meetings the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm at the Colquitt City Hall, 154 West Street.
The City Counsel appoints a City Manager to supervise the day to day operations of the City.
The Board of Education has a five member Board elected by the voters through district elections for four year staggered terms to set policy and operate the county's school system. The Board of Education conducts their business meetings the first Monday of each month at 6:00 pm at Miller County Board of Education office at 96 Perry Street.
All meetings of the above governmental entities are open to the public. All Miller County citizens are encouraged to attend and participate in these meetings.
